CCNA® Training

The Boston University Corporate Education Center (BUCEC) provides students with everything they need to become a Cisco® Certified Network Associate (CCNA). CCNA training includes a basic foundation in networking and students who successfully complete CCNA training are eligible to earn CCNA certification.

CCNA training includes four courses, equivalent to about 280 hours of instruction, which are available at the college and university levels. Colleges and universities typically provide CCNA training in a single academic year.

BUCEC’s CCNA training program teaches students of all backgrounds the fundamentals of networking. CCNA training includes learning how to design, build and maintain networks capable of supporting national and global organizations. Combining online learning and testing with instructor-led training and hands-on laboratory exercises, BUCEC’s CCNA training teaches students to apply what they learn in class by working on actual networks.

Online CCNA training
The online portion of CCNA training is designed for the convenience of students. Students access the CCNA training curriculum, which resides on a Web server, from workstations over the classroom LAN. Students also have access to CCNA training online during non-classroom time.

Being vendor-neutral, the CCNA training curriculum teaches students things that will be useful for maintaining non-Cisco networks, too. While Cisco equipment is used to practice and reinforce certain concepts, students in each CCNA training course gain broad-based knowledge of the operation of networks, the differences between various types of networking products, how to design and troubleshoot networks, and other general topics. There are, however, some controls on CCNA training materials. Since the curriculum is copyrighted, access to the CCNA training curriculum is provided only to students enrolled in eligible programs, such as BUCEC’s CCNA training program.

Instructor-led CCNA training
Depending on your existing knowledge, the classroom CCNA training could be the missing link between you and what you need to excel and master computers and computer networking. The first few days of the course are designed to fuel your desire to learn all there is to know about CCNA training. You will first be asked to read through curriculum notes and illustrations, in an effort to demystify the computer and all its components.

CCNA training is a hands-on experience where students actually get to see the equipment, configure with it and learn from their mistakes. Specifically, students enrolled in CCNA training are taught about computers, design, configuration, installation, management, maintenance and troubleshooting. CCNA training instructors are encouraged to lead fun-filled, lively discussions, which will hopefully lead to a better understanding of the subject matter.

In each CCNA training course, instructors have the experience and knowledge to provide the level of training needed so that graduates can enhance their careers and help their employers to enhance their technological capabilities.
